Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a tried and tested system of medicine. The Chinese and other Eastern cultures have been using Acupuncture to restore, promote and maintain good health for thousands of years. Nowadays more and more people are finding this long established therapy can offer an effective solution to all manner of today’s ills.

Treatment Strategy:

A holistic approach is essential to achieving the maximum benefits from treatment. You will be asked about your current symptoms, what treatment you have received, your medical history, your diet, digestive system, sleeping patterns and emotional state. The Acupuncturist is also likely to feel your pulse on both wrists and ask to look at your tongue.

Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition, as well as your symptoms. This approach can lead to a more permanent resolution of your problem. The frequency and length of treatment depends on your individual condition. Some change is usually felt after four/five treatments, although occasionally only one or two treatments are required.

Your acupuncturist will normally ask to see you once or twice a week at first. For chronic conditions you may need long term treatment to keep your symptoms under control. Acupuncture has a very sound track record. The needles used are single-use, sterile and disposable. Lynn only uses high quality needles so reducing any discomfort from needling.

Electro Acupuncture:

On occasions Lynn chooses to use electro acupuncture, this is were small electrodes are attached to a battery operated machine, and a mild current is transferred down the needle, a slight pulsating sensation is felt, this is often used for some chronic conditions when extra stimulation is required.

Cupping:

Cupping is the placement of glass cups over certain areas of the body, creating a vacuum effect to add stimulation to an area where there has been a build up of stagnation /tightness for some time.

Not a painful technique, more of a strange suction feeling, not unpleasant. It may leave a small non permanent mark on the area treated for a few days after. This particularly useful for treating muscles which have been tight for a long time, the intense stimulation on the area using cupping is very effective at breaking down stubborn knots.

Lynn immediately made me feel at ease in my first acupuncture session. I now go regularly and have never looked back. I would recommend Lynn without hesitation.

I had been suffering pain over an extended period before I made my first acupuncture appointment. At that first appointment, and at subsequent ones, I was very impressed by Lynn's professional manner and the caring way in which she listened to me. The treatment made a world of difference and at the end of each appointment I was always reassured by Lynn's positive attitude at a time when I was feeling low as a result of the pain I had been in. Her mentoring skills really helped me through.
